On Wednesday, February 2nd, Dr. Niels Pörksen visited the Fendt plant in Marktoberdorf for a personal exchange with the Fendt management. Dr. Niels Pörksen is CEO of Südzucker AG and has been a member of the Board of Directors of AGCO Corporation since October 2021.
During his first visit to the Fendt plant, Dr. Niels Pörksen was able to gain his own impression of the modern production processes at the Fendt plant in Marktoberdorf, Germany. "You can feel the heart and soul of the employees in every conversation and also in the will to continuously improve processes", said the agricultural science graduate. "The methods of automation are highly modern and yet employees are the focus and strongly involved. I think that's great." He was surprised by the size of the Fendt plant and the flexibility in production. "The fact that all machines are manufactured on one assembly line was new to me and shows the possibility of reacting to varying requirements."
A highlight of his visit was a ride on a latest-generation Fendt 1000 Vario. "The machine is impressively large and technologically advanced. Nevertheless, the tractor is very easy to operate - almost like driving a car," he said enthusiastically after the ride. The visit to the Research and Development department gave Dr. Pörksen a glimpse into the future of agricultural technology. Looking ahead, he sees great opportunities in the connectivity of machines and possibilities of data exchange. "The Farm to Fork strategy and the Green Deal place high demands on agriculture, and this applies to farmers, agricultural technology just as much as to the food industry. Here, new technologies also offer exciting opportunities."
